HCG

Human Chorionic Gonadotropin (hCG) is a naturally occurring heterodimeric glycoprotein composed of a 92‑amino‑acid α‑subunit and a 145‑amino‑acid β‑subunit with extensive N‑linked glycosylation. In cellular systems, hCG binds the luteinizing hormone/chorionic gonadotropin receptor (LHCGR), activating Gₛ‑protein–mediated adenylate cyclase, elevating cAMP levels and driving downstream PKA signaling. This makes hCG a key reagent for studies of GPCR‑mediated signal transduction, steroidogenic enzyme regulation, and cell‑proliferation pathways.
